Colshaw Hall

As a wedding venue, Colshaw Hall offers modern amenities combined with traditional charm. It is truly a place where dreams can come true. I’m David Conway, an experienced wedding photographer who has had the pleasure of shooting many weddings at Colshaw Hall.

David Conway Photography

My name is David Conway, and I am an experienced Cheshire wedding photographer. My wedding photographs combine both contemporary and documentary styles. I love to explore a wedding venue and all its features. Once I know what I will be able to use, I can be very creative when it comes to lighting and composition. Spontaneous moments produce the best wedding photographs, especially when they include the newly married couple.

Colshaw Hall offers many wonderful opportunities for beautiful backdrops and picturesque views of the Knutsford countryside. No matter where you go on the large estate, you will find a beautiful place to share a special moment or two with loved ones. As I'm telling your wedding story, I will always look for the special moments that are uniquely yours. The moments that could only represent you and the love you have for one another are what I am trying to capture.

Colshaw Hall in Cheshire

Cheshire is located in North West England and is full of small villages and scenic views from almost every angle. Chester and Manchester, for example, are full of historical buildings that are ideal for elopement weddings or engagement photos. Throughout Europe, the UK is known for its stunning countryside views, quaint villages, and historical estates and manor houses. From North Wales to Lancashire, I love finding new wedding venues to explore.

A bride and groom will spend many days preparing for their big day. The floral decor team and wedding planners are available to help finalize all of the details. Located in the heart of Cheshire, the estate has acres of gardens and meadows where wedding guests, bridesmaids, groomsmen, and anyone in the wedding party can sneak away for a short break.

When you tie the knot at Colshaw Hall, you also have access to large outside areas that are perfect for your wedding reception. As the toastmaster raises their glass, the newlyweds can share their first dance. During the wedding breakfast or if you choose to have a drinks reception, I will be taking as many wedding photos of your guests as possible. Sharing the excitement and enjoying time with friends and family is what it's all about.

History of Colshaw Hall

The Irlam family own both Colshaw Hall and Merrydale Manor. Located in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, the country estate boasts a Japanese-style garden, walled garden, and miniature lake, as well as a sprawling rural landscape that is the perfect place for pictures. The gorgeous manor house was finished in 1903. Once a beautiful family home, the hall is now a beautiful Cheshire wedding venue with marble flooring and unique leaded windows.

After undergoing many renovations, the Irlams' completed the process. They created an exclusive-use wedding venue that offers all the latest amenities as well as many of the traditional features many estates are known for. The main hall is ideal for wedding ceremonies. The Japanese garden is the perfect backdrop for family photos or pictures of your wedding guests. Capturing your special day includes making the most of all the picturesque areas of the estate.

Colshaw Hall, Cheshire

Cheshire County is known for its picturesque countryside and gorgeous manor homes. Colshaw Hall is the sister venue of Merrydale Manor. The properties are located next to one another and share much of the same history. As a wedding venue, Colshaw Hall offers modern amenities combined with traditional charm. It is truly a place where dreams can come true.

With my documentary style of photography, I can capture the full range of emotions a couple can experience on their big day. Cheshire offers many locations and venues that are excellent backdrops for great photos. Some of my most iconic wedding photos are captured at historic manor houses and castles throughout the area. One of the unique factors is the diversity that Cheshire has to offer. Gorgeous abbeys to luxury estates offer beautiful settings that create any type of setting you can imagine in this area of the UK.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to some common questions below. Alternatively, you can contact David directly either by chat, phone or video. (This is often the quickest way to get the information you need.)

What area do you cover?

I am based in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, which gives me access to Greater Manchester, Cheshire, and the rest of Yorkshire - North Yorkshire, East Yorkshire and South Yorkshire.  As a rule, I am happy to travel up to 60 miles to cover a wedding. Any further than this I charge a fee to cover travel costs. Some of my favourite venues include: Allerton Castle, Bunny Hill, Carlton Towers, Colshaw Hall, Delamere Manor, Foxtail Barn, Hawkstone Hall, Hazlewood Castle, Heaton House Farm, Holmfirth Vineyard, Howsham Hall, Manor House, Merrydale Manor, Nunsmere Hall, Owen House, Peckforton Castle, Ripley Castle, Rudding Park, Rushpool Hall, Saltmarshe Hall, Swinton Park, Tithe Barn, Wharf Grange & Woodlands Hotel

How many photos will I get from our wedding photography?

Every wedding is different and the number of images you receive can be a reflection of what moments are there to be captured.  On a normal wedding day I usually deliver between 600-800 images to your online gallery.

How long will it be before I receive my wedding gallery?

I know how keen my couples are to see and share some images from their wedding day, so with this in mind I always like to provide a selection of teaser shots a day or two after the wedding day.  This would usually be around 20-30 images.  I then aim to deliver the full collection of images on an online gallery within 6-8 weeks.

Can I share my images and buy prints and wall art?

From the online gallery my coupes will have access to the full selection of wedding images, but they will be subtly watermarked.  From the gallery you would be able to order any prints or wall art directly through my professional printing service. You would be able to share the gallery to any friends and family, and they too, would be able to order any prints they may like as well.  If you wanted the full collection of high resolution images to share and keep, my couples do have the option of ordering a USB.  See more on my packages page here.

How long have you been Photographing Weddings?

Having been photographing weddings for the best part of 13 years, I am a highly experienced photographer.  I have been lucky to work at some of the countries premium wedding venues and have one many awards, including the prestigious Guild Of Photographers Wedding Photographer of the Year in 2021 & 2023.

Are you fully Insured?

Yes, I have insurance for all my equipment as well as £2M public liability insurance.  I also have Drone insurance as well as the necessary drone qualifications to be legal and safe when flying at a wedding.

Will we have to pay extra for Drone Photos?

No.  I see my drone as an essential piece of equipment on a wedding day, and so long as the weather allows it and it is safe to do so, I will use it on your wedding day to capture shots of the venue, your guests and it allows me to get creative when getting shots of my couples too.

How do I book in for a chat about my wedding?

Get in touch using my contact page here and we can arrange a chat, either in person at my home in Brockholes, Holmfirth, or we can arrange a Zoom call.
